ok so something that's been gettin' on my dick recently is how fucking insane adopt overpricing has been getting.
DON'T GET ME WRONG, i'm not one of those people who comment on quality adopts like "weh this is overpriced i only have 21.5 points?!?"
i totally get that people on dA are cheap and being forced to underprice sucks ass

HOWEVER, JUST WAIT A SECOND
that doesnt mean overpricing is any better. seriously.
i keep seeing wave after wave of HORRIBLY overpriced, very basic shitty base adopts that honestly, anyone could make.
if you don't know what i'm talking about, see the image above
(though honestly, i failed at drawing badly - my own rendition of the Shitty Adopt Base is actually still 10x better than the shit I often see)
but what's even funnier is that some of these people consider $30 for a really basic design a "super cheap low discount price!!1!1!" and whine and wonder why nobody buys them. gee man... can't imagine why that might be...

look, my point is this.
a really basic furry design on a base that you made NO attempt to change or make the character look unique is not worth that much.
in my opinion, the whole point of buying adoptables & character designs is to get something new and different that you couldn't make yourself.

as a general rule, if i can make it myself in 30 seconds in SAI, it's not worth paying for, especially not that much.

when I make adopts, even when they're basic or on a chibi base, i always try to vary them - from species, ear and tail shapes, hairstyles, different faces, and sometimes little quirks that just make them seem like a character and not a cookie cutter furry coloring page.

i don't want to buy an adopt that looks like everyone else's character. i want a character that is unique, something i can DO something with. because lets be honest, a slightly different colored furry base clone is really hard to make a complex character out of. 

so please, dont overprice for low quality and cookie cutter designs.

then make some adopts that are actually worth the price!! give them different hairstyles! give them different face shapes! add an accessory or two! give them something that suggests a hint of personality! maybe make them a different species that isnt Generic Vague Mammalian Dog-Cat-Thing!! the possibilities are endless.

and if your designs are unique and stand out, they will catch WAY more attention. seriously. nobody wants to buy a colored base, they want a character with some depth to them.

i guess it's up to the artist to price their shit, and hell, there's no stopping you from charging up the ass for a shitty two colored furry.
and there's no stopping anyone from buying them, either, but seriously please reconsider. if you're paying 25 real dollars for shit like I've drawn above, i think you might need to rethink your life a lil. just saying.
